If you no longer have a student in our class, please feel free to unsubscribe from our site. We hope that your children have a smooth transition into Grade 1; we'll be keeping an eye out for them during the coming weeks.
This year, there are 25 students in our class. We're looking forward to seeing our Year 2 (SK) students tomorrow! We have 9 returning students (from our class last year) and a couple of new students who are joining us from the French Immersion holding school. We hope that the returning students will do their best to welcome and help their new classmates (both Year 1 and Year 2).
We have 14 Year 1 students (JKs). Half of them will join us for a full day on Thursday, and the other half will come for a full day on Friday. As of Monday, September 10th, our full class will be together. Please contact us if you have a year 1 student and are unsure of which day they are coming to school for their first day (Thursday, Sept. 6th or Friday, Sept. 7th).
We need to know how your child will be getting home on their first day of school. For year 2 students, please send a note if they are not using their typical method (e.g., if a bus student is being picked up on the first day). If you have a Year 1 student and have not told us what is happening on their "visit" day, please send us a note so that we know if we should send them on the bus or not.
At the beginning of the year we will be focusing on getting to know one another, establishing routines, and learning how to play and work together. Please reassure your child that it is fine if they do not understand everything that is being said in French. With time and practice, they will learn many new words!
Attached is the Kindergarten Information Package. All students will receive a paper copy, but we're posting it here for your reference.
Just a reminder to please send in:
- labelled spare clothes
- a photo of your family (can be emailed)
- walking trip permission form (as soon as possible as this allows us to explore the beautiful forests and river beyond our school property)
We're looking forward to the year ahead. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.
