Clothing:
As always, please ensure your child is dressed to be outdoors in all weather. Layers are great and it's helpful to pack spare socks.
"Ami du jour" books:
We are asking the students to share a book with the class when they are the "ami du jour".
We have talked about the fact that there are a number of different ways to "read a book", that don't always involve reading the words.
- They can "read" a simple familiar book that they've more or less memorized
- Retell a familiar story, using the pictures as prompts (using a book with or without text)
- Read a simple book (reading the words where possible)
Their names are drawn from a bag, the day before they are "l'ami du jour". It would be great if they could practice their reading / story telling at home before bringing their book to school. We can also help prompt them as they share with the class.
Welcome to Madame Elias:
We are very happy to announce that Madame Elias is our new planning teacher (with a focus in mathematics). She is familiar with our school and will be an excellent addition to our team! She will be teaching our class on Day 1 and 3 in the first block (replacing Madame Campbell).
Jan Sherman:
The students really enjoyed Jan Sherman's visit. We sang songs about animals and the earth, as we drummed on frame drums. They were really captivated!
