The students are quite excited for the holidays. We've been talking a lot about listening and cooperating and for the most part they're doing a pretty good job. We've been really impressed with how well they've been doing at reading the book we wrote together about our trip to the fire station. Bravo les amis!
In the next couple of days, the students will be bringing home bird nests that they made during our "Scientists in the School" presentation. Some students chose to make plasticine birds to go in their nests. They carefully observed pictures of birds in books. Their birds were incredibly detailed but at first they were mostly quite flat. We talked about the difference between 2D and 3D objects and how we could make the birds rounder. We were quite amazed with their creations, and their perseverance! If your child brings home a bird (or many birds), please be sure to ask what type of bird it is and how they created it.
