We saw lots of things! We saw a bird called the crested flycatcher, and learned that it eats bugs when it's flying and uses snake skins to make its nest.
On est allé pêcher dans l'étang (we went fishing in the pond using small nets).
This is what we found:
- snails and snail shells (water snails and land snails)
- une grenouille (a frog)
- lots of caterpillars, worms and leeches
- a dragon fly nymph
We learned that a dragonfly hatches from an underwater egg. It eats underwater bugs and then crawls out of the water and sheds its old skin. It wiggles and pushes its wings and tail out. Then it flies off.
The best parts of our day were:
- We had fun and we were also doing stuff that we like doing
- My favourite thing was catching fish
- We learned something new
- Watching the frog jump
- Getting muddy!
Thank you so much to our amazing volunteers. You made our day run so smoothly.
