News Flash:
- Welcome to Mme Kristen Germann who has been hired as our new planning time teacher. She had a great first day with our class and we think she will be a fabulous addition to our kindergarten team!
- Our food drive ends this Friday. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed.
- The school has tickets to Guelph Storm Tickets for various dates throughout the year. If you're interested in having your name entered in a draw to win some of these tickets, please write a note in your child's "sac de communication" or send me an email.
- You should have received your child's photos as well as the class photo. If you are missing one of these photos, please let us know.
- Scholastic Book orders are due on Tuesday, October 23rd.
L'ami du jour:
Starting this Friday, each child will have a chance to do a short presentation when they are "l'ami du jour" (the friend of the day). They may choose to share an item that means something to them (a book, a photo, a toy, etc.). We will help them talk about their item as they share it with the class. See the calendar (on our website) for your child's scheduled day (ADJ:_______). Their names are in alphabetical order.
Trip to the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory:
Please return the blue permission form as soon as possible and make your payment for this trip (online is preferable). We have had a HUGE number of parents volunteer to join us on this trip (which is a good problem to have)! We are able to take 4 parents free of charge and we've decided to take the first 5 people who volunteered.
They are the parents of:
1) Brigid 2) David 3) Derek 4) Norah 5) Valerie
We will keep a list of the other volunteers, and you will be given first priority for our next trip. You are welcome to join us on this trip but you would need to meet us at the Butterfly Conservatory and pay the $12 entry fee. Our guided program is from 10-11:30 am, and we will be staying afterwards to picnic and play outdoors, and possibly reenter the conservatory. Please let us know if you're planning on joining us there. Thank you so much to all our volunteers!
Some of the things we've been doing recently include:
- More exploration of symmetry
- Building cities outside
- Working collaboratively to build a fort/structure in the forest
- Observing the changing colours of the leaves, asking questions and making predictions (Which trees are changing first? Why are certain trees / parts of trees changing before others? Which trees will lose their leaves? etc.)
- Exploring colours by mixing them together
- Weeding and preparing the school garden plots
- Making creations / art with nature
- And of course there's the toad that a student brought into our class yesterday (in their pocket!).
