We hope you have enjoyed a nice long weekend with your families!
Last week was a busy week as we celebrated the 100th day of school, Valentine's Day, and the start of Chinese New Year. We'll be continuing to talk about Chinese New Year, as well as the Winter Olympics. We also have a number of special events this week. We're hoping to do a Kindergarten Winter Olympic event but are unsure on how/when we'll be doing this due to the forecast. Stay tuned...
This week:
Tuesday: library, dental screening, presentation by Nathan Skoufis (Martial Arts competitor)
Wednesday: visit from Anishinaabe elder Jan Sherman (please pay $2)
Update:
Mme Campbell, who worked with our class 2 mornings a week (math focus), has taken a position as a Grade 4 teacher at our school. Her job has been posted and we will let you know once it has been filled. For now, we have 2 supply teachers who have been filling in for her.
A few requests:
1) Please sign and return the tear-off slip from your child's Communication of Learning. Please also return the envelope so that we can reuse it next term. Thanks!
Many of the students have seemed quite tired lately. Please try to provide some "down time" for your child and get them to bed earlier if possible.
2) This is going to be a wet week. Please make sure your child has a couple of pairs of spare socks, as well as spare mitts (these are also important for those sunny but melty/slushy days). It could also be helpful to pack rain pants.
3) Please pay $2 to cover the cost of Jan Sherman's presentation. You can make this payment online or send $2 to school. $1 donations are also being accepted for the Nathan Skoufis presentation.
