Classroom volunteers:
A huge thank you to Alice for creating our Volunteer Schedule for the remainder of the year. Please check the calendar tab of this website to see when you've been scheduled to volunteer (there could be changes that have been made since you first checked the schedule). We are quite flexible, so don't hesitate to contact us if you need to cancel or switch your times. It's just helpful if we know ahead of time if you need to cancel (you can send a note or email the day before). We really appreciate the help of all our volunteers. Merci!

This part of the blog post was written with the help of our students:
Today we built a spaceship. We used wood and silver fragile paper. We need to be very careful to not rip the walls of our spaceship. We worked with Alice and Madame Noftall and Madame Johnson. On aime notre spaceship (navette spatiale). Le travail d'equipe c'est fantastique!
We also read books about space and watched a Magic School Bus Show about space. We made a space bulletin board. We made our solar system with the sun and 8 planets. We also added stars and moons. It looks like a shooting star because we have a lot of stars together. we will continue adding to our bulletin board and we want to add constellations.
At the end of the day, we made a space control station with computers, beepers and walkie talkies. We had lots of fun playing space ship and we're excited to keep playing with our space station.
Note: Last week the children voted for what they wanted to create in our dramatic centre. Ideas included a gym, a workshop, a spaceship, and more. We voted and the spaceship won and since then, we've been brainstorming what we wanted to create. Today, the students designed and created the planets themselves! They looked at images in books to see the sizes, colours, and textures they would need. We also used the children's ideas in the building of the spaceship. It was an exciting day in our classroom, and we look forward to using more of their ideas and knowledge to expand on what we started today!
