Yesterday we had a visit from a police officer who talked about how to identify the police, what their role is, and how to call for help (dial 911). She also explained that police officers are their friends, and that police do not arrest children (the hand cuffs are too small!).
Updates/Reminders:
- Parent Council is tonight (Tuesday) at 6:30 in the library. All are welcome.
- Library day is tomorrow (Wednesday)
- This Thursday there will be supply teachers with our class.
- Scholastic book orders are being accepted until this Thursday. Just a reminder that if you are ordering items as gifts, just let us know and we will tell you when they arrive (instead of sending them home with your child).
Coming events / dates:
- Progress reports will be sent home on November 20th. We will have parent-teacher interviews on the evening of Thursday, Nov. 27th and during the day on Friday, Nov. 28th (which is a PD Day). You'll be able to sign up online for a time to meet with us, starting on Nov. 20th.
- Scientists in the School is a half day program during which the students get to participate in a number of hands-on activities brought into our classroom by a scientist. During the year, we will have 2 "Scientist in the School" presentations. We are asking parents to pay for the first program (you will be able to pay the $8 online) and School Council is generously covering the cost of the second presentation.
Our first Scientist in the School presentation "I can be a scientist" will take place on Tuesday, November 20th in the morning. Please let us know if you're interested in volunteering that morning.
