Thank you to everyone who sent in the money for Jan Sherman's presentation. If you have not already paid, you can send in $2 tomorrow. The students seemed to really enjoy listening to the story of the creation of Turtle Island, as well as drumming and singing. Yesterday, we also talked about Chinese New Year which included reading a story, doing ribbon dances, playing "dragon tag", making lanterns or dragon puppets, and more.
Next week will be another busy week with a number of special events!
Welcome to M. James:
We have a new 'planning time teacher' who will be working with our class 3 mornings a week. M. James will be doing a variety of things with the class which will include outdoor exploration, activities focused on problem solving, as well as some music.

Tomorrow, Thurs. Feb. 7th - Sweater Day (Wear a favourite sweater! We're turning down the heat to save energy)
Friday, Feb. 8th - Fire Safety Presentation, Library Day
Wed. Feb. 13th - 100th day of school (Students are invited to dress up to look like they are 100 years old and/or they can bring in a collection of 100 items such as beans, buttons, pennies or cheerios.
Thurs. Feb. 14th - Valentine's Day (If your child would like to bring cards for the class, please see the attached document. We'll be sending home a paper copy of this letter, but thought that making Valentine's Day cards might be a good project for this 'inclement weather day'.).
Friday, Feb. 15th - Library Day
Monday, Feb. 18th - Family Day (No School)
Wed., Feb. 20th - Scholastic book orders are due
