- Today we had a visit from Officer Robin, a police officer who works with our school. We talked about safety and the role of police officers in our community.
- Mme Horack will be at school tomorrow morning instead of Wednesday.
- Tomorrow (Tuesday) is LIBRARY (please return your books)
- Wednesday is "Take Me Outside" Day and we will be helping with an outdoor collaborative art project using objects found in nature, including the beautiful leaves out in our maple bush!
- Thursday is PYJAMA Day (children may wear their PJs to school and we will be having a colour house assembly)
- Friday is a PD Day (there will be no school for students)
We'd love donations of:
- plastic bags (grocery bags, bread bags, etc.)
- tin cans (from soup, veggies, beans, etc. as long as the edges aren't sharp)
Hallowe'en:
On Monday, October 31, students may bring their Hallowe’en costumes to school in a clearly labelled bag.
The students will wear their costumes during the middle block (11:00-12:40). During this block, we will take part in the Dance-a-thon and a Parade. Stay tuned for more information. If you are interested in volunteering from 11:00-12:40, please send a note in your child's "Sac de communication". Thank you in advance for anyone who is able to support our Dance-a-thon fundraiser. The funds raised will be used to help pay for a Kindergarten play structure. Merci!
Mindful observations:
We have been working on focusing and using our senses to make observations.
We do a breathing exercise by listening to a chime and then inhaling & exhaling 5 times while tracing our fingers (ask your child to show you this technique).
Some of our observation activities have included:
- drawing pumpkins from our imaginations and then drawing them based on our observations of a vine and pumpkin
- observing and painting sun flowers
- attentive tasting (voting for favourite apple)
- carefully listening to sounds in the school yard and near the river
You can see some of our beautiful art below.
